Just a random idea I had at work. I saw the swamp trees and really wanted to draw them. So figure swamp, got to be gators.
I think I spent the most time trying to get the perspective right and may still be off. I think I maybe at 6-7 hours for the whole thing. Really need to get faster.
I started off wanted it dark and monochromatic-ish. I can see what you are saying though. I may go back to the piece and try to lighten it up some. at least the characters.
He is trying to look up a spell in the book. However he could as easily be looking up songs that soothe the savage beast. Or maybe how to make a really good gator gumbo.
Very cool I like the looks of the characters, and the alligators, or crocodiles, or whatever, look great. You could have given the water some more transparency to separate it from everything else. Compared to the trees near the characters, the trees in the background look a little flimsy. Overall, I think this is a very nice one.
Now THIS is awesome! Great line art job. And congrats for the coloring! Really the whole pic is really great!
